Dishwashers: Dishwashers may be the most appreciated appliance in our homes today.  At Plumb Better, we can help you select and install the model that best suits your needs. We know the best methods for installation.  Call us today to schedule an appointment. Below are some tips for your dishwasher.
Some dishwashers use turbo mode, which actually uses a high pressure water pump to dislodge food particles. These pumps use a small water filter for operation which requires regular cleaning. The dishwasher owner's manual gives instructions on removal and cleaning of this filter. If there are holes in the filter, replace it to protect the pump and motor seals from particles that may be in the dishwasher.
A dishwasher should always be plugged into a grounded outlet or wired directly to the main power source in your home. Dishwashers have built-in water heaters and motors which can consume more than a couple of Kilowatts. Your main socket must be rated adequately for this load.
If hot water has not been used for two weeks or longer, then open all the water faucets and let them run several minutes before using the dishwasher.
On the inside of the dishwasher, the tub can be composed of plastic or stainless steel. It is better to opt for stainless steel tubs as they resist hard water and provide better sound tampering. Stainless steel also preserves heat to dry dishes faster.
Rust remover can be used to remove rust stains from within a dishwasher. These rust stains are normally caused by the iron content in the water. If the rust problem persists even after treatment, then you might think about installing an iron filter in your home water system.
